Thames Hospice

31 March 2016 13:07

Airwave Healthcare has supplied and installed a new, innovative, Patient Entertainment System for the Inpatient Unit at Thames Hospice in Windsor.  Thames Hospice is a local charity that supports people living in East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire, offering first class care to their patients either at the Inpatient Unit in Windsor, Community Therapy Unit in Ascot, or at home.

Airwave’s solution included an upgrade and expansion to the site’s coax network, which means a clearer, and more reliable TV signal can now be delivered to each TV. In addition to this Airwave also supplied the hospice with new medical wall arms and Philips white 19” dedicated healthcare TVs, which were installed and commissioned by the Airwave Healthcare engineering team.

The new Philips 19HFL4010W healthcare TV includes an Anti-Microbial housing, which actively inhibits bacterial growth and allows the screens to be wiped clean by the hospice’s infection control team. These televisions also include illuminated front touch control keys with proximity detection which negates the need for a remote control, plus the medical grade power supply ensures safety and low emissions.

Phil Edwardes, Regional Account Manager for Airwave Healthcare stated: “When Thames Hospice approached Airwave to provide them with a modern, state-of-the-art system, the Philips product was the natural fit for their environment. This solution, which also utilises Airwave’s medical wall arms, was an affordable way to guarantee the hospice had an easy-to-use, reliable system for their patients. The touch sensors on the screen takes away the added infection risk of a remote control, plus the coax network upgrade means the patients get clear TV pictures 24 hours a day.
