BMI Chaucer

27 February 2015 17:02

BMI The Chaucer Hospital in Canterbury, Kent is part of BMI Healthcare, one of Britain's leading providers of independent healthcare.

Just like the characters in “The Canterbury Tales”, penned by the hospitals namesake, the patient entertainment system at BMI Chaucer needed to go on a journey  of discovery and the prize being a feast of TV programme options to the hospitals service users.

The old and antiquated TV infrastructure meant that TV viewing options were limited to a few free to air channels delivered to old analog TVs utilising a SMATV distribution system.

Airwave introduced BMI to the digital TV era by installing a high quality Samsung Patient Entertainment Television which is capable of tuning to both digital (Freeview) and analog (SMATV)  TV channels. Airwave also recommended the use of flat wall brackets with tilt and swivel functions to allow a choice of viewing positions from the bed or chair as well as helping to declutter bedrooms and give them a more contemporary feel. In the final installation process all cables were neatly enclosed within high quality trunking and easier to keep clean-an important consideration in a healthcare environment.

The Samsung HC470 Series provide enjoyable viewing experience with stylish LED displays for the patients, a further benefit to BMI is that they also cut costs for Chaucer with simplified device management from one central point and lower power requirements providing reductions in future utility bills.
