Hinchingbrooke Hospital

12 March 2014 10:08

Airwave Healthcare has supplied and installed Hinchingbrooke Hospital with brand new bedside entertainment systems as promised in Circle’s 16 point plan to transform the hospital.

A quantity of a100 systems were commissioned based on Airwave’s bespoke Samsung Healthcare TV and wall mounted arm solution. A further plan is in place to complete the balance of the site within in 12 months.

At Hinchingbrooke the bedside entertainment is provided free of charge and patients have access to a range of tv and radio stations. At many other hospitals across the country, patients are charged to use bedside entertainment. However, when writing the16 point plan for the hospital, staff clearly stated that “nothing that makes their patients’ stay more pleasant is too much trouble.” Based on this feedback a decision was made to purchase the systems rather than hire them, ensuring the service to patients remained free. A generous legacy from the family of Joyce Moss and charitable funds allocated to the wards from the charitable funds committee made the purchase of the 100 systems possible.

The need for patient entertainment was a recurrent theme in the patient feedback the Hospital received. In response to this feedback, a team of staff spanning different departments across the hospital including nursing, procurement, facilities and IT worked together with Airwave to ensure an easy-to-use, robust and reliable system was selected, purchased and installed, ahead of schedule.
